The Epson Stylus SX405 is a multifunctional and compact device that can print, copy and scan without taking up much space. It can also print photos directly from your memory card using the 6.3cm LCD viewer from a digital cameras thanks to its PictBridge connection. The SX405 is capable of printing at speed of up to 34ppm and coping without the need for a PC. The printer ink cartridges contain Epson DURABrite Ultra Ink which helps protect the prints from damage and general wear and tear. This comes at a price however, with a set of genuine Epson SX405 ink cartridges costs £30 for a set, luckily there are cheaper compatible Epson ink cartridges available which cost only £15 a set. The SX405 has an advantage over it competitors in that it uses Individual ink cartridges that save you money as you only replace the colours used, similar devices from other manufacturers use tri-colour cartridges which waste raining ink when only one colour has run out and work out more expensive in the long run. Printing is the SX405 strongest point and slightly over shadows the other features but it also scans and photo copies to a very good standard. The scanner comes with software that enables editing of photos after they have been scans to remove imperfections and generally bring new life to old tired prints. The photo copy is one of the features of the SX405 that works without the need for a PC which is great when you’re in a rush and it produces great quality copies as it makes use of the SX405’s amazing print resolution.
